DNA - What to do?

IN WorldFengur two ways are possible to register a DNA result. The simplest way is to register the proof of parentage based on an statement from the laboratory. There you only register that nothing refutes the registered parentage with information on the person who signed the statement. The "new" way is to register the whole DNA result from the laboratory (markers etc.) based on the ISAG standard. This is a much better way which will be useful in the future when new DNA results will be added to the database. However only Iceland and Norway have made the necessary preparation which is mainly to have an agreement or understanding between the laboratory, the FEIF association in the country in question and WorldFengur.
To fulfill the requirements in the FIZO rules one of these two ways can be followed.

The importance of the Owners Certificate

All owners of exported horses from Iceland receive an Owner Certificate in addition to the Horse Passport of the horse. The Owner Certificate is a very important statement both for the owner of the horse and the WorldFengur's Registrar. The rule is that the registrar may only register a change of ownership in WorldFengur if he/she has the Owner Certificate of the horse - given that all information in WorldFengur is correct. This means too that when a horse is registered into a breeding show this process is very important.

The World Championship for the Icelandic horses 2007

The WC 2007 will take place in August 6-12 in Oirschot (near Eindhoven) in Netherlands. WorldFengur will be at the WC as usually with a stand. WorldFengur will be on The Icelandic Horse Plaza 2007 with Icelandic horse's associations and organizations located in Iceland e.g. the Horse Association, the Trainers Association, the History Center of the Icelandic horse, the Riders Association, Landsmót 2008 and WorldFengur.
We invite all WorldFengur's Registrar to the stand.
